Exercise a Little Self Control This Holiday Season

Don't be slipping Rover ANYthing under the table.

Surprising dangers for pets during the holidays

...Macadamia nuts can cause a short-term hind-limb paralysis, and bread dough, if eaten before baking, can expand rapidly once ingested and cause ethanol poisoning.

MacKinley actually wound up in the emergency room a couple Thanksgivings ago. Guests were just pushing back from the table, when Schmacks stuck his head out from under it.

And he had no eyes.

Well, he had them, but they were hidden behind the mounds of bulging flesh protruding from his once aquiline profile.

We never did figure out what he'd gotten into. Or who'd surreptitiously slipped him something, since we discourage that pretty vociferously. (A la Achmed ~ "Feed the dog, I KILL you.")

But that damn "not good for puppies" list just seems to keep getting LONGER every year.

We were the worst dog owners ever for that. We knew about the things they couldn't have but everything else was fair game. One loved crawfish and would go into a frenzy when he saw the sacks because it meant company and lots of scraps. Passed a whole crawfish one time. Must have been painful but you had to admire the commitment.

Dear God, Rob. I don't think there's anything to say after that.

It was probably one that fell off of a table but he didn't have to go to the vet for it. We still miss them.

Dear God, Rob. I don't think there's anything to say after that.

Then I won't describe a friend's dog who somehow ate an entire plastic grocery sack......and survived.

Poor doggies! My dogs were dogcuum cleaners after the twins. They got quite fat hanging out in the splash zone. Good thing toddler food seems to be harmless to dogs.

The Official Puppy will attempt to consume anything at or below human knee level, including knees. It is a difficulty but we are adapting.

Rob, I just don't know how to respond to the crawfish story at all. Your dog wins.

Claude ate 5lbs of raw spuds off of the counter one time.

Sure fertilized the yard real well.

Oh, what beauteous puppies, Rob! I'l BET you miss him. The little buggers just worm their way into your heart and never leave. ::sniff::

Also helps to have an award winning "My Dog Ate ____" story to go with the picture.
