There is Filth Among Us

...cretins of monstrous proportions, whose indescribable cruelty knows no bounds.

Five dogs and 10 horses were found shot Tuesday in Beulah, where residents are comparing the animal- cruelty incident to a horrendous round of target practice.

...Nearby resident Emily Healy said neighbors were joining forces Tuesday to support Davis, 78, who returned to his property Monday about 8:30 p.m. to find the chain on his fence cut and the lock missing.

Once through the gate, Davis found several of his animals shot to death, some with multiple wounds, according to a sheriff's report. Four horses also were shot but were still alive. Several other horses were missing.

"These animals were his life," Healy said. "It was a horrific act for no good reason. The people who did this are some unbelievably cruel folks. It was like horrible target practice. "

Deputies arrived Tuesday to find the slain animals scattered across the property.

A 5-week-old brown colt struggled to breathe in the horse corral.

Another 7-week-old brown colt was dead. It had been shot in its right side.

Two mare quarter horses were alive, but struggling. Both had been shot in the stomach. One was wounded in the right rear leg.

Deputies found another quarter horse in a wooded area near the corral. It was bleeding from the nose and shot in both sides of its stomach and in its left front leg.

Shell casings were strewn around a dog pen where four English setters lay dead. About 200 yards away, another setter was dead in its pen.

There's only three horses left alive ~ one of the mares died last night. The vet who tried valiantly to save her all night long was in tears describing her suffering this evening. She'd been broken up last night, talking about the 3 month old ** colt with the bullet lodged in it's spine. They were hoping the paralysis it was suffering was a symptom of the swelling from the wound and not permanent.

I will lay money that the same criminals behind this have families ~ that they're spawning and breeding and passing on these wonderful, compassionate traits to a whole 'nuther generation. Or worse. Treating their children's fragile young lives with the same high regard shown these animals.

** I had the wrong colt. The poor baby is only

...6 WEEKS OLD.

After the massacre, a fight for life for attacked animals

Suspect sought in animal shooting

Dr. Keith Weekley ran his fingers along the coat of a 6-week-old colt as the partially paralyzed animal struggled with unsteady breath after unsteady breath.

The veterinarian gave the fragile rear legs a gentle push.

"He should be pushing back," Weekley said. "But he can't move his legs."

The colt was shot in the top of its spine Monday night, when gunfire was sprayed inside a 113-acre lot in Beulah. Five dogs, English setters, died on the scene. Seven horses were confirmed dead Wednesday. Three other horses remained in treatment at the Northwest Florida Large Animal Clinic on Quintette Road in Pace.

My God. There are no words for the animals who did this. They are beyond redemption.

Oh my god, the vile bastards. But I'm sure their parents will say "Oh they're good kids."

That is just screwed up.

No sane person could do such a thing unless it's a vendetta. The old man has an enemy, I'll bet. I hope they find the bastards and draw and quarter them.

The 6 o' clock news reports are just horrifying and heart rending. The poor grizzled, 78 yr old fella with his cataract shades on weeping and trying not to, the vet exhausted and the neighbors incoherent with anger. Damn, it's makes my (let me amend that ~ our ~ major dad turned the air blue) blood boil.

They got the horses moving, so they could practice killing heart/lung shots like you use in deer hunting! What the law proscribes is only a fraction of what these assholes rate. I'm with Mike COMPLETELY on this one.

God, this is just plain sick. I'm with Mike as well.

That just makes me so furious! How could anyone do that to any living thing?

WE're so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine, the shock and pain, we also raise horses so can understand your feelings for them
