When Fostering an Elitest Climate

San Diego Superior Court Judge ordered coffee chain Starbucks to pay $87 million plus interest to workers who say that their tips unfairly had been shared with supervisors....Starbucks in a statement said it would appeal the judgment, which also required that Starbucks cease letting supervisors share tips.
I don't think I've ever heard of a supervisor tip dipping. That's appalling. It's pretentious ~ like a snobbish feudal system, taking a cut of the serfs' own cabbage greens from their kitchen garden.
No wonder I find, "My mouth can't form these words..." so snickeringly apropos.

It pretty much negates the purpose for tips, doesn't it? I will never again leave a tip at starbucks.
Oh wait. I never have. I don't drink coffee.
There's a special place in hell for bosses that extort tip money from employees.

This is somewhat common across the "service industry". But not quite as common as is requiring that all servers put tips into a communal pot that is then shared equally across all servers on the shift. Kinda defeats the purpose of tipping well for good service, don't it?
If the "service industry" wants to get around minimum wage laws by claiming that tips make up for the difference, this kind of crap has got to stop.

Usually I'm pretty generous with tips. I guess I'm going to have to start watching out for places that pool the tips into one kitty and avoid them.
Oh, and a special loud and thunderous "Fuck You!" to Starsucks.

I've got no problem with pooling of tips I give when the pooling goes to the water boy, the guy who isn't the waiter but delivers the food and anyone else who helped make my meal pleasant. I don't think it should be shared with everyone, though.

Someone explain why in the hell you would tip someone at starbucks? They get payed well with benefits, and you come to them...not the other way around. They're not wait(ers)/(resses)! They aren't getting payed 3.14 an hour to walk around to people, carry their shitty food and coffee to them. That's fucking rediculous. If I saw a tip jar at a starbucks I'd bloody piss in it. Jesus.

I worked as a busboy at an high-class restaurant
for about a year while I was going to college.
The people in the restaurant industry are the
most hard working decent people you'll ever find.
StarBucks based in Seattle( as is that android,
fascist, Communist, Maoist, BILL GATES)should
rot and burn in the lowest part of Hell.

It is sad the hardest working and most decent
part of society is the most ridiculed.
Why do government workers get to retire at 55

TIPS = To Insure Prompt Service
I don't consider Starbuck's a tipping situation, but in other circumstances (say, a restaurant) I tip for good service. If the server is slow, impolite, etc, the percentage goes down.
And I don't even feel guilty.
