I'm Sure His Mentor Will Be Ted Kennedy

Some things are just too outrageous

AP - PONTIAC, MI -- Assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian is planning to run for Congress in Michigan. Kevorkian is on parole since being released from prison last year.

He tells The Oakland Press newspaper that he plans to run without party affiliation for the congressional sea now held by Republican Joe Knollenberg. Kevorkian needs a minimum of 3,000 signatures on nominating petitions to appear as an independent on the November ballot.

The retired pathologist claims to have helped at least 130 people die. He served a prison term for second-degree murder in one man's death.

No, he admits to taking part in 130 murders. Why is he out on the street?

Technically, he was providing the means for 129 suicides, and only committed the one. As an advocate of voluntary euthanasia, I have no problem with what he did. But I do find the guy to be creepy, and I think he's a lousy advocate for the cause.

I'm also mostly in favor of allowing it, but Kevorkian proves just how difficult an issue it is to legislate. He is the very embodiment of a "slippery slope".

And Bill, he was convicted of only one but I seem to recall some big problems with some of the others, like whether they were actually terminal or if there was pressure involved. Can't remember the details, unfortunately, and no time to track them down.

The guy seems to enjoy killing people. It is too weird for me.Assisted suicide should be done with
a loved one,not a doctor.He should just retire
to a cabin in the mountains and call it a day.
It is well known Linda McCartney(Paul's Wife)
probably committed assisted suicide. It is like
doctors in the early 20th century would allow
mentally retarded babies to die. Best to leave well enough alone..
