Ebola

...will be crushed to hear this.

IHOP to buy Applebee's for $2.1 billion

The last time Kcruella and I were in a IHOP, it cost an arm, a leg and three quarts of blood and ~ both service and meal ~ sucked to high heaven.

Hmm. I've never had a bad meal at an IHOP. We love 'em. Met my wife in one.

I'm all for it, as long as IHOP will let me get a medium-rare hamburger once they own the joint.

Will this merger mean a new name to grace the already cluttered landscape of American advertising? ApplePancakes? International House of Apples? Something else entirely? Hmmmm!

So, do they have IHOPs in Pennsacola? Or are you just waiting for Dunkin to buy them both?

BASturd !!

There's always the option of a road trip to Ovieda...

Posted by: John at July 16, 2007 04:22 PM

John, according to Qwest, there's a Dunkin' Donuts at 1701 Saint Charles Avenue, in New Orleans. The distance is only 201.6 miles, about a 3 hour drive......and that's better than half the distance to Ovieda. THS could beat THAT easily.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at July 16, 2007 05:28 PM

Hmmm...since I will INDEED be IN New Orleans this weekend...must be a sign from God.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at July 16, 2007 05:38 PM

But could she beat it without a fender bender?

Posted by: John at July 16, 2007 08:37 PM

JUST OPENED!! The new Dunkin Donuts less than half a mile from my home.

Posted by: Kcruella at July 16, 2007 08:45 PM

My Bride and I went visited a Dunkin' drive through that just opened up nearby. Awfully convenient, civilization.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at July 16, 2007 08:55 PM

Yeah, but none of youse NJ types can beat the Dunkin inside my local grocery store. The shopping carts even have little coffee cup holders attached to the handles, courtesy of Dunkin'.

Posted by: John at July 16, 2007 09:29 PM

The ShopWrong StuperStore near us has one of those Dunkins'.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at July 16, 2007 09:53 PM

Yes, but us NJ types have Starbucks in our grocery stores. (or we can walk from the Shoprite to the Dunkin Donuts.)

But could she beat it without a fender bender?

Maybe, if she kept her mind on the road, and not on those deeeeeelicious Dunkin' Donuts at the destination.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Qwest is wrong, and that store closed down long ago, possibly due to the deprivations from Chimpy McHaliburton BusHitler's handling of Katrina.

Never can tell, these days. Maybe she'd better call first, huh?

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at July 17, 2007 01:27 AM

Really, I didn't know ShopWrong was doing that, too. Up here their presence is too small and Stop and Shop got the Dunkin' contract.

Of course, I'm pretty sure neither chian has a presence in FL. Perhaps THS can write to the president of Piggly Wiggly.

She can always get Entemann's from her local Publix.

Posted by: nightfly at July 17, 2007 10:08 AM

Well, someone could mail her an empty box from Dunkin' Donuts; she could spend a day making her own, putting them into the box, and pretending that they're the real thing.

Who ever does that should leave a few crumbs in the box, so that THS can annoit her own creations with The Blessed Pastry™.

Not me, though....we don't have a DD here.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at July 17, 2007 05:45 PM

Entemann's is in the Commissary, Diptera. Not my favoritest confection is available (yummmms, used to have their chocolate chip cake for my birthday) but, they ARE here.

Keep typing, Jeffy boy.

Just bein' helpful, Sis!

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at July 17, 2007 10:21 PM

Even I would not be so cruel as to mail THS an empty DD box. An empty waxpaper take-out bag, maybe ... ;-)

Posted by: John at July 18, 2007 09:23 AM

Heh. The last time I went to an Applebee's none of our orders were properly cooked. There's only one IHOP left in my state, and it's miles away. :(
