When you look at this destruction you can't but wonder how "only" 9 people died; you would expect the toll to be many times that.

Worthless as they can be for normal weather forecasting("Plan on sunshine for the weekend my ass, it's POURING outside!"), the weather weenies in this part of the country are pretty good at watching/predicting/tracking severe storms and tornados. Has made a big difference in fatalities over the years.

My happy little weather alert radio with the alarm that's loud enough to blast hair off the dog is right next to my side of the bed. It has saved our bacon a couple times and I will never be without one.
