And Speaking Of Guys Whose Girlfriends Get Nice Perks

Seems like someone was not wearing their seatbelt

CAMDEN, N.J - Gov. Jon S. Corzine was critically injured Thursday when his motorcade crashed en route to a meeting between radio personality Don Imus and the Rutgers women’s basketball team, a doctor said.

Corzine, 60, suffered numerous broken bones but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, officials said. He was recuperating early Friday at Cooper University Hospital in critical but stable condition after two hours of surgery to repair a seriously damaged leg and other injuries.

Dr. Robert Ostrum, who performed the surgery, said it was successful but noted that the governor would need two more operations on his leg in the coming days. Doctors also inserted a breathing tube that would remain “for days to weeks, until (Corzine) is able to breathe on his own again,” Ostrum said.

I hope you get better soon, Governor.

But wear your goddamned seat belt, you idiot.

With all due respect, of course.

And will he be served with a summons for not wearing his seat belt, like us little folks would be?

Comments

"Soon" is not in the cards for this guy's recovery. Initial news stories reported that he sustained an "open femoral fracture" which is the kind where the snapped bone pokes outside of the body. Not only is that a germ pipeline right into the marrow, but the muscles contract and whatever debris is at the wound is forced into the tissues. That's one of the reasons that multiple surgeries are needed for repair. The sea of antibiotics that are washing through him right now do not guarantee that infection has not already gripped on tight. And how many people do you know with broken bones are put on "breathing tubes"?

Yeah, I noticed that "breathing tube" bit too, Suzette. Not a good sign. For weeks.

You don't have a red pick-up, do you, Bing? Just checking.

Not me.

But I'd love to have a peek in Dick Codey's garage...

That guy's spent more time as Governor than anyone recently.

The New Jersey political class isn't expected to follow the rules they set for us common folk.

Isn't it bizarre that the one state without a Lt. Governor in its constitution appears to be the one most in need of one?

Actually, I'd disagree, Dave. It seems we're getting quite a bargain out of our Senate President; why spend millions creating yet another office?
