GOP Loses

Not hugely, mind you, but a few percentage points here and there and the country remains pretty evenly split. The Senate seems to be 50/50 at this point, and in the House it seems to be 52%/48% more or less; not 'historic' or 'epic' as it will be spun, but things were so even beforehand that it was enough. Considering how poorly the GOP has done while in power and how far they have strayed from their professed principles they shouldn't really feel too badly about that. It will be good for them; they were in power too long and it frankly corrupted them. Now we will get to see how the Dems behave for awhile.

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi"

We're fucked.

Nancy Pelosi is one arrythmia away from being first in line for the presidency.

If that doesn't chill you TO THE BONE. . .

One can only hope that being forced to act like adults will have a salutory effect. If they defend the country and quit meddling in my everyday affairs I don't care what letter comes after their name. (Except possibly Menendez, who should have numbers after his name.)

And now we lose Rumsfeld. Dammit. Guess I'm turning alcoholic this weekend.

Cullen, I'll join you.

The Republicans only have themselves to blame. The most fundamental necessity of being elected to any office is that you must give the voters SOMETHING FOR WHICH TO VOTE! It isn't enough to say "vote for me because the other guy is worse!" Kerry and the donks forgot this in 2004 and were turned away. The GOP ignored that lesson and got the boot.

As for Harpy Pelosi, she isn't going any further than speaker. Cheney wouldn't step down even if he were reduced to an animated head in a jar of fluid.
