But Was It Plastic?

And did Cheney shoot it?

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Fossils discovered in southern Utah are from a new species of birdlike dinosaur that resembled a 7-foot-tall brightly colored turkey and could run up to 25 miles per hour, scientists said Tuesday.

!! Silly me. For a second, I thought you were talking about Robert Byrd...

Lots of big claims there. Call me skeptical, but they only found a foot. I'm not sure how you can make most of their claims on that basis.

Sure, you can guess at the over all size of the beast, but how can you know that it has turkey-like feathers if all you have is a few foot bones?

Did I miss something?

An understandable confusion, but he is the fossil from West Virginia.

(Mike, Mike, Mike ~ ever the sceptic.)

(Sorry. SKEPtic.)

Sceptic is a different thread.

I'm sure the description's because the bits they found are larger versions of something they already have in hand. You know the old saying: A Byrd in the hand is worth two in the Congressional Lavatory.

Although this quote:

Scientists are not sure what purpose the feathers served, but it was not for flying. "It's quite different from modern birds," she said.

...has me leaning towards the 'Liberace Ginormous' genus.
