Oh The State Department Pisses Me Off

What kind of CRAP is this:

Washington on Friday condemned caricatures in European newspapers of the Prophet Mohammad, siding with Muslims who are outraged that the publications put press freedom over respect for religion....

..."These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims," State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said in answer to a question. "We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable."

This is complete and total bullshit. If Condi doesn't smack down these limp-wristed idiots she will have a very very tough time getting my vote now. How dare they encourage those bastards to riot and blow shit up.

God Bless Denmark!

Email the State department?

But for SURE The White House.

Letters are even better.

Here's the email I just sent to the White House:

Dear Sirs,

I am deeply ashamed by the State Department's statement today on the uproar over the cartoons depicting Mohammad in Europe. At the very moment when some in Europe are regaining their courage to fight Islamofascism for State to come down in favor of censorship is, quite simply, disgusting. It sends absolutely the wrong signal to these criminals, for now they know that their rioting gets results, and the wrong symbol to freedom loving peoples everywhere, for if the United States will not defend the free interchange of ideas then who will? Separation of church and state and a free press means the right to express ideas that might offend someone. Boo-hoo folks, join the 21st century (or at least the 18th). Will State now issue a similar statement decrying the recent parody of Christ on the cover of Newsweek? Somehow I think not, nor should they have issued this.

I trust that the President will swiftly move to disavow our government from State's actions, and remind them of the freedoms that our service personnel are sacrificing so much to uphold. I hope Sec. Rice does the same, or they will only encourage the forces of repression.

Thanks and regards,

Mr. Bingley

Mine, to W's office minions:

Sirs,

I am astounded and APPALLED by the statement just released by YOUR State Department. How DARE America try to control freedom of the press! This is the headline on the Reuter's article and the Drudge Report.

US backs Muslims in cartoon dispute

Never in my wildest dreams did I think the United States of America would facilitate repression in ANY form, less mind a time-honored one with which Americans often voice their own opinions. Your stance, if indeed the State Department reflects it accurately, is beyond the pale for the nation who fights and dies that OTHER nations might enjoy our LIBERTY. Our FREEDOMS. And you would chastise a DEMOCRATIC society for freely and openly speaking their minds? You dishonor every American serviceman and woman in Iraq and Afghanistan who fight die every day to bring those same words to those countries.

For shame.

"fight die"

Is that some secret martial art I'm unaware of?

Support Danish products! Buy some yummy havarti and Danish ham, or some Carlsberg beer. Lurpak butter and Anthon Berg chocolates are great. The Muslim boycott of Danish business is hurting these companies, so let's try to offset the damage. The Danes have excellent time-tested instincts about world affairs; they saved their Jewish population from the Nazis, and they support democracy in the middle east with aid and troops. They are fantastic allies and deserve our total support.

Funny you should mention that, sweet Sister Sue ~ We just finished off the Lurpak with our baked taters tonight! Need to restock. Here's to all support gestures being so dee-licious!
