Another "Mother Of The Year" Nominee?

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- A deputy Tasered an intoxicated 13-year-old girl who was kicking and scratching two hospital nurses, officials said.

April Rene Burleson, who is 4-foot-9 and weighs 90 pounds, had a blood alcohol level of 0.175 percent and was under the influence of marijuana and the prescription drug Xanax, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Nice, huh? She was out wandering around at 3 am and I guess Momma wasn't too concerned, but she did agree to let the deputy take the girl to the hospoital.

No word about any charges being filed against the mother for allowing her daughter to get involved with booze...and pot...and xanax, but you know the lawsuits will be flying about them Tasering her little baby.

Disgusting.

Should have locked her in the basement...

And the southwest is supposed to be the boring quarter of Florida.

Dave, I've looked at a map of Florida. The "southwest quarter" appears to be all water.

Posted by: Ken Summers at June 24, 2005 09:07 PM

Er, Ken, the southwest is roughly everything on the Gulf Coast south of Tampa, the main coastal cities being Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples (and the interior still being VERY rural). Bonita Springs is in Lee County, of which Fort Myers is the county seat.

Oh, so it's not that big blue area south of Pensacola?

Posted by: Ken Summers at June 25, 2005 12:33 AM

Uh, no, Ken: the Panhandle is in the NORTHwest.

Posted by: Dave J at June 25, 2005 12:42 AM

Should have tasered the mother as well.

I'm talking about that giant blue area south of Pensacola. That's in the southwest. It's south of Pensacola and west of Fort Myers.

That Blue State you're getting confused by is Cuba, Ken.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at June 25, 2005 10:13 AM

But Cuba is in the southEAST quarter of Florida, Mr. B. ;-)

And here I expected the drunk, stoned teenager to be a mother.

Don't confuse the issue with geographic facts, Dave.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at June 25, 2005 01:15 PM

I'm a little surprised by that as well, nobrainer.
