Twenty Years Ago Today

It seems like yesterday.

This has been one of those 'I remember exactly where I was when I heard' moments for me.

It sure is.

My 8th grade teacher made us watch one night of a national news program--I think I watched ABC--and write a report. The night I watched did a lot of coverage on this event. I didn't understand a lot of what was going on, but I'm glad she asked us to do it, because I remember it now.

I remember I had traveled with my parents to Illinois to help them try to select a new house (they moved later that summer). I remember sitting in the hotel room watching it on the television, and I remember being alternately scared for, and proud of, that young man who stood up to the tanks.

I can still picture it. It really is one of those "you remember where you were when..." moments.
