They All Laughed At Christopher Columbus

When he said the world was round
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound
They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother
When they said that man could fly

They told Marconi
Wireless was a phony
It's the same old cry
They laughed at me serving you
Said I was a cheap damn Scot buffoon
But oh, you came through
Now they'll have to change their tune

They all said you never could taste yummy
They laughed at me and how!
But ho, ho, ho!
Who's got the last laugh now?

Interesting. It's been known for some time that plastic stoppers are actually better than cork, but it's kind of amusing to see boxes do well.

Twice, even.

Said I was a cheap damn Scot
I fail to see the inaccuracy in that statement.

Heh. Score one for the good guys.

I knew a lawyer who drank himself to death with Franzia.

"... cheap damn Scot"

With the Scots, "cheap" is a feature, not a bug. I won't comment on the "damn".

I can see that happening, Gary, which is why, in my exhaustive taste comparison, the Vella Merlot won out.

I would hesitate to call it a "blind tasting", however, as the only blind one at the end of it all was me.

I grew up with box wines at family reunions--makes sense. I'll bet they spill less, too.

The relatives?

I find Bingley's box wines to be relatively pleasing.

It's just a matter of time before his Gin bottles just say "Gin".

Uh, the boxes spill less than bottles. Had a hailstorm-related spill with a bottle the other night (see Bingley's hailstorm post). But I'm pretty sure my relatives think spilling wine is wrong, too. :)
