On A Dark Spanish Highway...

Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell from the tapas, rising up through the air
Far behind in the mirror, I saw a blue flashing light
My foot grew heavy and my grip grew grim
Then I flew out of sight
Then he stood by my door side;
I heard the mission
bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell
Then he took out the handcuffs and he led me away
There were voices down the corridor,
I heard the magistrate say...

"Taking a drive in your Ferrari California..."

A Scottish expatriate living on the Costa del Sol has been fined more than £3,000 for driving at the highest speed ever recorded in Granada province.

Alan Heron, who is originally from Glasgow, was also banned from driving for 10 months.

Traffic police caught the 56-year-old speeding at 169 mph in his Ferrari California on a motorway near Baza on Wednesday morning.

Since no one was hurt, I'd have to think the guy probably thought it was worth it. I would.

I don't know what's more impressive, that he topped 150 mph on public roads, or that he was caught anyway.

169 mph is nothing. Here in Florida,we have the Space Shuttle that makes a Ferrari look like a Yugo.

Ever see "The World's Fastest Indian"?

"Do you have any idea how fast you were going?"

"Oh, about a hundred and fifty, I'd say."

I once got up to about 120 on the autobahn between Mannheim and Frankfurt. And I was still getting passed.

I got up to 120 in my 71 Ford LTD on I-10 between LaPlace and New Orleans. There's a 13-mile bridge there. I was 20, I think, and yes, I am a recovering idiot.

That car's good for at least 175 mph. What went wrong?

Maybe needs a tune-up, Gary.

When the Florida Highway Patrol gives my office a whole written report instead of just their notes on the back of the ticket for a charging decision on Reckless Driving, you know something's up. When said report contains the line "my speedometer indicated 125 MPH and defendant continued to gain on me"...yeah. Oh and keep in mind that speed alone cannot constitute Reckless: you must be in some way causing a danger to other persons or property, i.e., if there's no other traffic, it basically can't be a Reckless charge.

169 mph is what race tracks were made for. As fun as it sounds, it was really stupid. He's got enough money to spring for $200 for a weekend on the track and do it right. He's an idiot.
