What A Mess

I'm blah and downcast today. The economy is a mess, our "leadership" is thinking only of ramming through their statist agenda, they embarrass all of us by how they treat our closest ally...there's just no good news anywhere, really. So I'm just going to crawl into my cave with a case of wine this weekend.

I was feeling the same way Wednesday while watching the markets go to hell.

Pace yourself with the wine, Mr. B, you don't want a hangover on top of everything else.

I wonder how many days like this my grandparents had while struggling through the actual Great Depression?

Oh, don't worry, I pace myself perfectly: I start when I get home today and I stop when I go to sleep on Sunday night ;)

But for some odd reason I'm already starting to see double...

So am I Mr. B., and I'm still drinking coffee.

At noon the S&P and Dow are flat, so the jobs numbers didn't scare them much, but maybe they're numb.

CNBC just said GM hasn't been as low as it is now since 1933. Yikes.

Unfortunately, I think this kind of news is going to be the new "normal" for quite a while.

Ugh.

No booze for me this weekend; if the weather cooperates, I'm hauling firewood. I'm stockpiling for the coming depression.......

As for me, I've got a big stack of Iz Kwakamele (or however his name was spelled), Anonymous 4, and other interesting CDs queued up for the weekend, and a hand-sewing project.

The TV is staying off unless USA Network happens to run an NCIS marathon.

I figure the less useful news there is, the more they shout about the bad stuff. And I don't need that.

I'm thinking I may have to do a "Cheap Plonk Wine" review for our Dear Readership so that I can give sage advice on what to stock up on for these dark days.

I will sacrifice myself for you.

Thanks, Mr. B! But please have NJ Sue or The Daughter use the camera; you may not be able to provide a stable enough platform to avoid blurred photos.

Posted by: JeffS at March 6, 2009 02:59 PM

They're called "action photos" Jeff.

People pay big bucks for that stuff.

Thank you, Mr B. I for one am dying to know if Mad Dog 20/20 has changed in the last thirty years.

"if Mad Dog 20/20 has changed in the last thirty years"

WTF is that????

Gad I'm old. And I was only 20 when "Mad Dog" apparently hit the streets...

You can rate the wine on how well it dulls one's money worries.

Ken-When I was in high school, MD 20/20 and Boone's Farm were the beverages of choice at the ...wait for it...drive-in movie theater. Candy is dandy...
