I'm Just Posting This So...

The Legal Standing of Climate Models

"Climate scientists have created a unique institutional system for assessing and improving models, going well beyond the usual system of peer review. Consequently, their conclusions should be entitled to considerable credence by courts and agencies."

( Burgeoning cloud of brain goo and skull fragments in 3...2...1... DUCK! )

It also helps ~ if you've a strong enough stomach ~ to read how thrilled the KoolAid drinkers were with the whole premise. A taste:

...These recent observations and measures of opinion motivate conversation, but they do not challenge the fundamental conclusions of climate change science. The Earth will warm, sea level will rise, and the weather will change. Yes there is natural variability, but we can definitively attribute much of the warming to the activities of humans. Majority opinion to the contrary does not make this less true. It is only a convenient belief that abrogates responsibility.

That's some stunning stuff, eh? The comments are worse, but I would be abrogating my responsibilities to the tender feelings of my consti'chency should I encourage such reading.

Not surprising. Whenever there's money to be stolen, power to be grabbed and suckers to be fleeced anything goes.

The scientific method is in mortal danger no thanks to these con artists.

Um, wow. Just... wow.

Considering the predictive accuracy of these climate models over the past few decades (i.e., pretty poor), that is an amaaing statement.

Spot on, Guns. And don't forget the cognitive dissonance that they are instilling in the next generation. Rational thinking? Pfffft!

Mention "model validation"...

Hah! Scares 'em, doesn't it? Well it should. Their models are crap.

Using this logic ... I have created a unique and rigorous process through which I will present my graduate thesis as a haiku. It should be given the same credence as a normal paper and, although the majority of my faculty disagree, doesn't make me any less right.

We'll see how that goes over.
