These little misunderstanding kerflufflepuffels are such a bother, dadgumdarnit.

Geithner made honest mistakes on taxes, Obama spokesman says

It's amazing. This only ever seems to affect democrats. They love high taxes, but don't seem to like paying them.

For all the criticisms of Bush, one good thing about his administration is that I can't recall a single scandal.

But dems aren't even back in power and already we have multiple scandals.

And for being the smuggest, smartest damn party, ya think they'd get the hang of "pay the maid's employment taxes/whoa! pay MINE" ONE of these years. Especially with whichever asshole they pick for TREASURY SECRETARY.

Or schmaybe they figure no one at Treasury know WTF they're doing anyway, so who cares? We can ALWAYS print more...

Geithner better withdraw his name immediately, because otherwise this thing WILL blow up (as it should). Holder's nomination will be filibustered, and the Dems won't have the votes for cloture; if Geithner sticks around, that's what'll happen to him, too.

My guess? Larry Summers or this blog's favorite, John Corzine, back for another stint at Treasury.

Being a democrat means never having to say your sorry.

Don't you know? Only the "evil" rich should be made to pay taxes; the "crusading protectors of humanity" shouldn't be bothered with such petty things.

Seriously, I think that kind of thing ("forgetting" to pay tax) should be immediate grounds for never again being allowed to have a job that involves control of any money.

(And yeah, yeah, "It was complicated" wah wah wah. Read the tax code, lately, Geithner? The US public is subjected to 'complicated' every damn year - probably many of us pay more taxes than we should because of it.)

Complicated tax schemes and raises always hurt ONLY the poorer citizens. The rich can afford to hire people to legally squirrel away all their money to dodge the worst of the increases. Many celebrities simply incorporate themselves and dodge the bulk of the highest marginal rates that way. Small business owners and average working-class shlubs take it on the chin, however.

NEVER believe a rich person complaining about taxes, and that includes all these politicians, 97% of whom are millionaires and/or lawyers who will never pay one dime of said increases. Whenever they talk about "fair share" they only mean OUR share.

As opposed to "crooked mistakes", one supposes.

I'm sure the IRS would be just as... understanding... if it were me who made those "honest mistakes", huh?
