You Know, I Like Minnesota

My Bride grew up there, and it's a lovely place. Nice, sweet people and, for me, a wonderful climate.

But I never want to hear any of them ever again say a disparaging word about Ronald Reagan. I mean, good god, first they elect Jesse Ventura Governor, and now they may put Al Franken in the Senate?

They haven't quite put Franken in the Senate, and given how close it is the will be a required re-count. We haven't completely lost our minds and judgment, yet.

True, but the fact that he and Coleman are only separated by 800 votes, and the guy who ran Ventura's campaign is running as Jesse II and has gotten over 400,000 votes...man, it's amazing.

And WTF, Jim Moran?

God help us all.

I have strong connections to Minnesota, too. My mom is from Minneapolis. Most of her side of the family still lives there and I don't get there nearly often enough to see them or the dear friends I've made up there. Their politics have always been ... shall we say ... quirky. You can see, for yourself, instantly upon arrival there that it doesn't hold them back. Whatever they do in Minnesota, it works. I wish Louisiana was half as quirky.

Minnesotans are a bit quirky in our voting habits. Obama won the state by almost 300,000 and not pummeling Coleman shows just how weak Franken is. The MN SoS website shows Coleman with a 721 vote lead. That's going to be tough for Franken to overcome in a recount without some shenanigans going on. Possible, but not likely. I suspect he will be back in New York by New Year's Eve.

Looks like Coleman won. I don't know if that's officially the official final count.

The latest numbers from the MN Secretary of State website show Coleman ahead by 462 votes. The results are still being called unofficial, but all precincts reporting. There will be an automatic recount unless Franken concedes, and I don't see him doing that. Make way for the lawyers!
