Great Line From David Brooks Just Now

"Her unmarried daughter is pregnant, her husband has a 22 year old DUI and they once put a tin can in the plastic recycling..."

Hahahaha.

At least her daughter isn't gay.If she were, nobody
in the media would have the guts to mention it.
It is unusual that they don't seem to know about
birth control. She had a kid at 44 and her daughter
at seventeen.Even Catholics use birth control now.
Three Hail Marys and you're forgiven of a venial
sin.Maybe in Alaska the cold sunless winters cause
a disruption of normal thought processes.
It is kinda strange.

Riiiight. Just like Mary Cheney.

Oh greg, puddin', there are TIMES...

::lamazebreathingtechniquesemployed::

Parents can know ALL about birth control, Greg AND even pass that knowledge on to their children. Even some Catholics actually do! Low income girls get it for FREE, even!

But unless you're in situ with the spooning teenage couple, it's up to them chitlins their ownselves to actually USE the stuff. At that age, brains have a hard time engaging when the hormones are flowing. It's like all the commonsense receptors are short circuited.

Dare I say, "remember"?

Y'know, even Obama said to leave families out of it, but the correspondent reporting from the convention to the local radio news keeps bringing up the teenage daughter and how "she will be there tonight." I mean, come on, her absence would've been commmented on as well. Annoying.

Aside to Greg: some Catholics may use artificial birth control, but the Church does _not_ condone the use of it. Admittedly, it's a hard thing for many priests to preach, because it is a very private matter, but at least the good ones I know do the best they can to help people know what the right thing is to do.
Just please don't tell me you're pointing at the youngest Palin and telling me he shouldn't have been born, 'cause I'm gonna have a problem with that.

And who GIVES a flippity flip if their kid is gay?

Or Wiccan or green or purple, or Bangladeshi or Venusian, for that matter?

Not THIS household.

Sadly, I think this is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations.

There are going to be people ready to trample all over the Palins REGARDLESS of what their daughter does about this situation. (Me? I think she's doing the right thing - marrying the dad, keeping the baby, being fairly open about it. Of course, I would also have accepted "giving the baby up for adoption because she doesn't feel ready to raise a child" as the right thing, also.)

How the fuck do you know that? Condoms do break.

And I have ebola to prove the pill ain't perfect.

Kate P: I'm a lapsed Catholic,not due to any
loss of faith, but because my kids are now adults and I'm too lazy to go to Church.
The fact both Gov Palin and her daughter got pregnant at inopportune times is not a reflection on
their integrity, but may mean they are unlucky.
I was merely thinking that it could be sign or
omen of unluckiness. From what I've heard, some
pilots are called 'unlucky',cursed with trouble.

I think she's the real deal. After hearing her speech. She's the real deal.I have my doubts
erased.

"It is unusual that they don't seem to know about
birth control."

Or maybe they had no real desire to avoid having more children. Some people actually like kids.

"The fact both Gov Palin and her daughter got pregnant at inopportune times is not a reflection on their integrity, but may mean they are unlucky."

Or that they were lucky. Children are not curses. They are blessings.
