What Else Did Bingley Bring Back With Him From Alaska?!?!?

Everyone is confirming it's Palin. And daggum. They had to call her parents while they were caribou hunting.

What a hoot.

Man.

I am CHARGED UP!

Bingley Update: She has more executive experience than McCain, Obama and Biden combined.

ths UPDATE: To quote the radar tech in Top Gun:

Way to go, Maverick!!
I'm giddy. I hope it lasts....

Read her Wiki entry, before the nutroots start adlibbing in it. I'm getting screencaps right now. I was worried about the State Trooper thing, but Bingley pointed me to this entry on the Wiki page:

...In response to Palin's statement that she had nothing to hide, in August 2008 the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal, though lawmakers acknowledge that "Monegan and other commissioners serve at will, meaning they can be fired by Palin at any time."[49] The investigation is being overseen by Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and thus subpoenas are unnecessary.[50] The Palin administration itself was the first to release an audiotape of Bailey making inquiries about the status of the Wooten investigation.[48][51]

Wooten and the police union alleged that the governor had improperly released his employment files in his divorce case. However, McCann's attorney released a signed waiver from Wooten demonstrating that Wooten had authorized the release of his files through normal discovery procedures.

UPDATE: Oh, man! The Obama campaign stepped on their cranks with their statement.

"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," said Bill Burton, Obama Campaign Spokesman.

Bitter, SMALL town folks clinging to guns again?

They're fools.

Comments

I never heard of her until last night, but so far she seems pretty positive.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at August 29, 2008 11:21 AM

I'm a very happy camper this morning :)

Glad you took the screen caps, Sis. Some jerkwad has already inserted the phrase "She likes dicks" right under the heading "Early Life".

Hmm. Got reversed rather quickly.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at August 29, 2008 01:28 PM

It's really a shame that we can call sh*t like that, KNOWING it's gonna happen, isn't it?

MOH-rons.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at August 29, 2008 01:31 PM

David Gergan called her a "gun-totin' woman" on CNN. Not "a person who believes in the 2nd Amendment," but a "gun-totin' woman."

Asshole.

"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency."

Meanwhile, on the same day, the entire Democratic Party named the former failed community organizaer with zero foreign policy experience their actual Presidential nominee.

This is like not seeing the forest for the trees because you're pinned face-down under a log, with a pine-scented tree-shaped air-freshener around your neck.

Regarding the trooper incident: I would hope that a governor would try to influence SOMEBODY to fire a trooper that found himself in a situation that he felt it necessary to

FRIGGING TAZER AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD BOY!!!!!

Yeah, if that's the extent of corruption surrounding her, then I'm a big fan.

Plus I like her line about the Bridge to Nowhere where she said that if Alaskans wanted a bridge, they would build it themselves.

Posted by: Skyler at August 29, 2008 03:11 PM

Hmmm, I think I'm going to cut out the middle man and write-in Sarah Palin for President.

"David Gergan called her a "gun-totin' woman" on CNN."

Gergan doesn't realize that's a compliment amonst us gun nuts. :D

Posted by: Gunslinger at August 29, 2008 05:10 PM

My politics-loving mom was so excited she called to tell me about it, and gave me all the background info to bring (woefully ignorant/Sarah Who?) me up to speed.

I wonder what the delegates trying to vote for Hillary at the convention this week think of these developments.

I actually do have a couple of minor issues with Palin, but neither is actually relevant to the job, even if she gets a promotion.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at August 29, 2008 05:39 PM

You're only jealous because she's gutted and skinned a caribou, Ken.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at August 29, 2008 06:06 PM

In heels.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at August 29, 2008 06:07 PM

And then cooked it in an efficient and tasty fashion. Like a picture out of a Lileks book.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at August 29, 2008 06:19 PM

Bingley-Are you saying that Ken hasn't gutted and skinned a caribou in heels?

Because I'm not taking that bet.

Posted by: Dave E. at August 29, 2008 06:49 PM

Bitter, SMALL town folks clinging to guns again?

I've read that this has been shortened to "Blasty Americans". :-D

Gergan doesn't realize that's a compliment amonst us gun nuts.

Indeed. And the Obamaists just keep on stepping on their cranks. This is what happens when their heads explode.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at August 29, 2008 07:09 PM

Just reviewed her Wiki page.....looks like the trolls are staying away. For now.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at August 29, 2008 07:17 PM

"And the Obamaists just keep on stepping on their cranks."

They've been stepping on their cranks for so long they probably don't even notice anymore.

"I wonder what the delegates trying to vote for Hillary at the convention this week think of these developments."

According to Volokh the Hillary Clinton Forum is buzzing with excitement.

Posted by: Gunslinger at August 29, 2008 07:39 PM

Jeff, I'd bet they shut it down to revision for the time being.

Are you saying that Ken hasn't gutted and skinned a caribou in heels?

Never seen a caribou wearing heels, but I once shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I don't know.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at August 29, 2008 07:41 PM

Brilliant. Absolutely fucking brilliant.

Posted by: Dave J at August 29, 2008 07:49 PM

How he got in my pajamas I don't know.
Were his Tuscaloosa?

Or is that an elephant in your pocket?

Posted by: tree hugging sister at August 29, 2008 08:02 PM

No, I'm just happy to see you, THS.

Just don't tell Major Dad.

Please, I beg you.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at August 29, 2008 10:18 PM

She kinda sounds like a female Teddy Roosevelt.
In a strange way, I'd rather have her as President
than either McCain or Obama. We just need an American to run this nation, not a puppet of the Soros,Gates
,outsourcing traitors;who enjoy the protection of our nation and have no allegiance.
The fallacy is,"Why doesn't Germany have a trade deficit, when their citizens make more money than us?"

Posted by: greg newson at August 29, 2008 11:26 PM

"She kinda sounds like a female Teddy Roosevelt."

May I quote you? Often?

Posted by: Gunslinger at August 30, 2008 12:25 AM

Newson, I agree that she seems to have better potential than McCain, but it's still quite early. A lot of people said that Quayle had a lot of potential too. I'm encouraged, but there's still a lot of time before the understudy proves herself.
