And We Should Be Pouring Dollars Into Africa

...WHY?

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe was greeted with hugs at an African summit on Monday, a sign that African leaders won't shun him despite Western demands they take a tough stance over his re-election in a tainted vote.

Talk about your moral authority...they'd rather keep the hand chopping, baby burning, machete massacre going than be seen as caving to whitey. What sorry, spineless, excremental individuals, and I weep for the everyday African ~ black, white, green or purple ~ who lives his life perpetually in fear of madmen and their animals.

If that murderous, inhuman, raving lunatic gets hugs from African 'leaders' (and I use the term loosely), then Africa pretty much deserves what it gets.

If they cannot turn away from his heinous hide, I cannot abide the thought of a DROP of American blood spilled for Africa.

Not only that, but the money ends up in the pockets of the dictators and never makes it to the people who need it. That's why I ignore those celebs pitching for donations to Burma. Piss on that. I won't give just so the corrupt tyrants can steal it.

I stopped giving to ANY African related charity long ago. This pretty confirms my decision.

Yep, Sis, shed not a drop of American blood for Africa, they reap what they sow.

But we do need to stay in the Horn of Africa, there's a good strategic reason why. And that isn't so much a combat operation as it is intelligence and country building.

I just got back from a three week gig in Ghana. Very friendly people, they're probably the exception to the rule in Africa in that they are peaceful and generally abide by the rule of law.

Where we went was very remote and the people were living in ways that are surely unchanged for the last 100,000 years. They had chickens and goats and nothing else.

In the nearby city of Tamale they had a state of the art soccer arena. I asked a Ghanaian army officer what was the story behind such a beautiful facility and he said, "that's the reason you're here." (I was there with a battalion of Marines.) He explained that the Chinese donated six such arenas throughout the country and that they didn't trust their own politicians to not be corrupted and controlled by them.

I would never give money to the charities in Africa. Such charity is generally of no value in the long run. I think the Chinese have a better idea. Build them soccer stadiums, and the people will fill them, businesses will be cultivated to support the crowds, and prosperity will result.

In these most remote places we were in, the people lived in absolute poverty, with no possessions. They were happy in their ignorance, while the chiefs made sure that they had cell phone towers. Cell phones increase the chief's power. Clean water or private property rights don't increase the chief's power and thus did not exist.

I enjoyed my visit but I hope I never go there again.

give a man a fish, they eat for a day.Teach a man
to fish,they eat for a lifetime.Strange,truths
never die.
I heard a British missionary on the radio, he said
the Chinese are actually taking over in some African
nations. They are using jet fighter planes to kill
elephants, yet the western media refuses to report it.
Could be the same reason Japanese war crimes are
forgotten, that would be too racist ..

The problem in Ghana, and probably other places as well, is that you can teach people to fish all you want, but if the local chief controls who is allowed to fish, then it's all for naught.

Or who gets to KEEP the caught fish, right? Which is exactly why that band of cutthroats won't go after Mugabe ~ it hits too close to home.

Seems like things haven't changed. What a suprise! Somolia sucked, Kenya sucked. Back when we went in to feed the starving Somalians I had the opportunity to see up close and personal how things were. Despite the destruction that was Mogadishu you could see that at one time it was probably a nice city. They took care of that quickly. Made Olongapo P.I. look like Vegas.
