To paraphrase a current presidential candidate...

"YES, WE CANS!"

By way of my good buddy Julie, who sent along this heartwarming story. [wipes a tear] There is hope in the world.

So what do we call you, Obeerma?

Posted by: Julie at March 6, 2008 11:49 AM

Beerack Obeerma. Unless it's German beer, in which case it's Bierack* Obierma.

*Can't find it on search engines, but this happens to be the name of a wonderful little tavern in the Black Forest. Maybe I'll tell that story sometime.

That's "gasthaus", not "tavern", auslander. Your uncultured American imperialistic unilateral upbringing is showing.

Jawohl!

I love the Beer Can house and have visit it every time I go to Houston, which is often. It's not set apart from other buidlings in the neighborhood - the small property retains its original footprint and is as accessible as any other house on the street. Those long chains of lids and poptops make a lovely little sound when they rustle in the wind.

p.s. - there is a 6 ft miniature model of the Beer Can house that is entered into the Houston Art Car parade every year.
