Confluence of weirdness (updated)

UPDATE: See end of post

Saw this story when I logged onto email this morning:

LOS ANGELES - Former "Tonight Show" sidekick Ed McMahon broke his neck in a fall last year and was recovering after two surgeries, his publicist said Thursday.
It was early last year and he's recovering well, apparently.

So on the morning radio show (listening by computer at the office) they mentioned the story. Lee Rodgers remarked that McMahon was a guest on the program about three months ago, sounded great, and said nothing about having recently had a broken neck.

So here is the confluence of weirdness:

Last week, Rodgers's cohost Melanie was let go in a cost-cutting move by the parent company. It was a financial decision, nothing more, but some righties thought there might be a conspiracy afoot.

Remember, Ed McMahon was a guest on the program once. Ever. Three months or so ago.

So sometime in the last several days, Rodgers got an email from a frothing rightwing nutjob, contending that Morgan was "fired by the Jew Ed McMahon".

I guess he's one of those Irisshidic Jews. Or maybe Scotchkenazi.

UPDATE: I couldn't resist. The Fighting Irishidic

He did work the Tonight Show, that well-known hotbed of Hebrews. He was originally Chayim Carsonberg before he changed his name to Johnny. Hi-yoooooo!

Well, when I was a kid, they used to give us green bagels for St. Patty's day, with wrappers that said "Shalom and Erin go Bragh."

Innocent child that I was, I thought it was just a bit of cross-cultural kindness.

(and lest anyone misinterpret: I STILL think it's just a silly bit of cross-cultural kindness; and I wish I could find those bagels again becuase they made me laugh)

If I see Eliot Spitzer on Monday I'll be sure to say "Erin go Brothel!"
