Breaking News: Spitzer The 'Ho Man!

Well well well, now we know how jealous you New Yorkers were of us with McGreavey

ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning.

Mr. Spitzer, who was huddled with his top aides early this afternoon, had hours earlier abruptly canceled his scheduled public events for the day. He is set to make an announcement about 2:15 this afternoon at his Manhattan office.

Mr. Spitzer, a first-term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform and end the often seamy ways of Albany, is married with three children.

I can't wait for this press conference.

Update: Get ready for "Hillary For Governor"

UpdateUpdate: Well, he admitted it in his statement. Hot Air has constant updates.

Update Updated Updatedly: The Smoking Gun has the relevant transcripts.

Well, you gotta admit, at least Hillary is qualified to replace Spitzer, although that ain't saying much.

You might want to consider adding a closer tag to that Hot Air link :)

At least McGreevey wasn't paying for it.

Though I think such activity should be entirely legal, I do wonder how many people Spitzer had prosecuted for doing the same thing.

I don't understand how no one has asked this yet: WTF do you get for $5500 an hour?! That's completely insane! Online escorts typically charge $200-500 an hour. Pornstars who escort typically charge $1000-2000 an hour. Er, um, or so I've heard.

I must admit to being somewhat titillated by the kinky suggestions in the transcript that they have. Client 9 could be 'difficult' and liked things perhaps not 'safe'???

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at March 10, 2008 04:49 PM

Bill, the philosophical questions don't really matter though, do they? Because the point is prostitution is illegal, and this just further shows the hubris of of 'ruling class' who think they can and should be allowed to do things that they bar us from doing, your point about how many people he's jailed for this being spot-on.

Whoops, finally closed that tag. Thanks ken.

I'm just glad he's a Democrat. I'm sick of being the only party with old dudes getting their freaks on.

Except for Bill Clinton.

Run for your lives...it's "Client Nine from Upper State"! Now it's only a matter of time before the zombies start showing up.

That "not safe" stuff may be the reason for the high fee. I normally don't really care all that much about this kind of stuff, but Spitzer is such an ass. If a wife and children weren't involved I'd find the whole thing hugely amusing.

Socrates drank his hemlock, Spitzer had his Love Potion Number 9...

I'm sick of being the only party with old dudes getting their freaks on.

And getting caught at it, you mean. Which just might mean that the Dems are better at hiding crimes.

Er, um, or so I've heard.

Somewhat related, I had an Army buddy write his master thesis on prostitution. He hired prostitutes in order to interview them; being in the Army at the time, there were plenty hanging around the base. Interesting reading, but he took a fair amount of ribbing about his interviews.

he took a fair amount of ribbing about his interviews

So did the girls, I would imagine...

WTF do you get for $5500 an hour?!

I'm trying to resist the urge to post a really, really, REALLY good dirty joke.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at March 10, 2008 06:05 PM

Bingley, you're right. But the philosophical point in my opinion, makes it worse, as he had previously condemned and prosecuted the very activity he chose to participate in.

Anyway, if he's going to get in serious legal trouble for anything, it will be the shell games he ran in order to hide the source of the funds used to pay for it.

As for the girls themselves, Wonkette has screenshots of some of the pages. They're certainly very beautiful, but I can think of much better things to drop $5,500 on.

Some how I never pictured that our good friend Skyler looked like this.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at March 10, 2008 07:02 PM

Maybe he had The Operation?

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at March 10, 2008 07:39 PM

Wow. Guess the Corps was good to him.

WTF do you get for $5500 an hour?!

Um...me? In stilettos even!

Posted by: tree hugging sister at March 10, 2008 08:03 PM

At least McGreevey wasn't paying for it.

No, New Jersey taxpayers were. remember? Boytoy got a STATE job.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at March 10, 2008 08:05 PM

I suspect NY's taxpayers may have been paying here too. This is being investigated not by DOJ's equivalent of Vice but Public Corruption: the main story here, and the major crimes, I just get the sense already have yet to be disclosed, and are financial in nature and therefore boring compared to $5500-an-hour hookers.

Posted by: Dave J at March 10, 2008 08:14 PM

Dave, man. What a DA can aspire to these days...

Posted by: tree hugging sister at March 10, 2008 08:28 PM

I wonder if I'll see news crews here in the next few days? His wife is from the town I currently live in.

Posted by: Crusader at March 10, 2008 10:32 PM

If you see his wife, Crusader, then Hizzoner is in deep doo doo.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at March 10, 2008 10:51 PM

Hey! Does this mean that the Bingster could run for NY Governor in a special election? Assuming he drops his bid for the Joisy Governator and the Rethuglican Veep slot.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at March 11, 2008 12:58 AM

Hey, I don't want the NY job or the Veep job.

But I think I can promise the good people of NJ that as I can't afford $5500 hookers they can rest assured I will never do something like this.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at March 11, 2008 06:55 AM

Why not, Mr B? It's a bigger state. Maybe you could turn it red, eh?
