Police foil plot to kill Muhammad cartoonist

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Danish police said Tuesday they have arrested three people suspected of plotting to kill one of the 12 cartoonists behind the Prophet Muhammad drawings that sparked a deadly uproar in the Muslim world two years ago.

Two Tunisians and a Dane of Moroccan origin were arrested in pre-dawn raids in western Denmark, the police intelligence agency said.

The Dane was suspected of violating Danish terror laws but likely would be released after questioning as the investigation continues, said Jakob Scharf, the head of the PET intelligence service. The two Tunisians would be expelled from Denmark, he said.

(I love how you just get 'expelled' for fixin' to murder someone. That's quite a lesson taught there.)

Reminds me of a recent Doonesbury favorite...

No wonder folks within Islamic civilization become easily frustrated & enraged, if what a famous Islamic cleric is quoted to have said, "There are no jokes in Islam," is true.

If one may not laugh at oneself nor at one's civilization's or religion's foibles, then what's left? frustration & rage?

Judging from what we've seen lately, I'd say that's about it, Dave. (And a warm Swill welcome to you!) How one exists in a humorless society, where every word or action ~ from this CENTURY or any of the previous 14 ~ is a potential insult or the subject of an ages long death feud, I have no idea. Perhaps that why it's so very necessary to subjugate your believers' intellectual processes.

I can't imagine such a cheerless shell of existence. But then again, I come from a world where, for instance, Catholic Charities will assist ANY person of ANY persuasion (need, not creed) and think Jesus duking it out with Satan on South Park is hilarious. Naughty. But hilarious.
