Some Friday Fun

Hot Air has Cavuto's interview with Tommy Chong up, and it is one of the funniest clips you'll see, a completely burnt-out comedian playing political philosopher.

One of the commentators posted this link

Which made me look and find this one

Does anyone else note the hypocrisy of the interviewer telling Chong that his opinion has little merit because he's a comedian, and yet he's still interviewing him?

Chong makes some good points and some bad points. Saying Clinton was a genius is not a good point. But pointing out that immigration is a red herring is. This whole thing was a non-issue that did nothing but distract from the big issue, which is winning the war.

I don't see how this is a red herring, Mike. 12 million illegals in our country and a border that is completely unsecured is a pretty damn important issue, it seems to me.

Yeah, but it's not been a problem. This has been classic xenophobia unleashed that is no different than the many other times from our nation's history.

There is no immigration control that will keep terrorists out of the country. We can't keep drugs out of jails let alone coming across the border, how can we keep people without drugs from coming here?

Sure, it's not been a problem in the sense that those clouds are not a problem until the hurricane hits. This is not 'classic xenophobia'. Illegal immigration is a huge problem. It is a huge problem for lower class citizens who see illegals take jobs from them. It is a huge problem for the working middle class who will be devastated by the taxes needed to support the 12 million people (plus their families who you know damn well will be allowed in for 'family reunification') who will be added to the entitlement rolls after having not paid a dime of taxes on their own. It is a huge problem for our Republic.

Clouds are sometimes just fluffy and provide shade.

Citizens who can't compete against illiterates who don't know English are quite pathetic.

The problem is not these people coming here, the problem, as you note, Mr. Bingley, is that we have too many socialist programs (minimum wages, welfare, public schools, medicair, etc.) that cost us money. The correct solution is to do away with socialism rather than do away with the benefit of more people who love freedom.

All you have to do is ask the American Indian what uncontrolled immigration can do.

The indians are much better off, at least the ones that decided to not stay in the stone age.
