What a Great Way to Start Another War the Day

Iranians seize 15 British sailors

Fifteen Royal Navy sailors have been seized by Iranian warships in Iraqi territorial waters, the Ministry of Defence said.

Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett has summoned the Iranian ambassador in London to demand their immediate release, a spokesman said.

The incident happened following a routine inspection of a merchant ship off Iraq.

The MoD said the incident happened at around 10.30am local time.

"The boarding party had completed a successful inspection of a merchant ship when they and their two boats were surrounded and escorted by Iranian vessels into Iranian territorial waters," a spokesman said.

Next move, anyone?

UPDATE: More coming out now.

UPDATE: What IS it with these people? The Fox News correspondent is reporting the British sailors have already been paraded BLINDFOLDED on state TV. If the Iranian government feels they've seized these guys legitimately, then act like a government, not freakin' cheesy-ass terrorists.

Wait. What am I saying...?

I wish we we acknowlege that we are at war with them and have been for 27 years.

Didn't anyone in government read "The Prince?" For all the reputation it has as being ruthless, it was very, very wise in many respects. Further delays only make a weaker enemy stronger. We do not profit from delaying this inevitable war, they do.

We need Patton back. And Halsey.

I tremble just contemplating the strongly-worded letter the UN is already sitting in committee to discuss issuing to the Iranian government. I look forward to it twenty years from now.

These jackasses wouldn't have dared to do this when Thatcher was around. Let's hope for some of the spirit of Agincourt to come upon our friends across the pond - Rule, Brittania. And may God protect your sailors and grant their safe return, preferably through the sudden onset of your armed forces.

I'd ask what our Democrat controlled congress has to say about this act of war but they're too busy chasing their tails on the Valerie Plame and Gonzales non-cases.

I think it's time Iran's navy was formally introduced to the bottom of the sea.

Heheheheh. Nice.

Fly, if Thatcher was still PM there would have been bombs going off in Teheran and the SAS on the ground within hours. Oh for the days. As much as Americans like him for standing by us on 9/11, Blair is all talk; sadly, I can't say any better for the current crop of Tory alternatives, either.
