Did Anyone Else See Bashar al-Assad on World News Tonight Last Night?

Gosh. He seems like such a nice guy. And Diane was really tough...

Sawyer: But in America they believe that you are all powerful, and you say the word and the border [crossings into Iraq] will stop.

Assad: Powerful is different from being omnipotent — power that you can control everything completely. You cannot control your border with Mexico, can you? You're the greatest power in the world, you cannot control it with Mexico, so how do you want Syria to control its border with Iraq?

....(Oooo, ZING!) and you still just wound up wanting to hug him.

I think Forest Whitaker should play him in the movie version.

I heard that she asked some really tough questions about his iPod, too.

I'm worried about her ~ she's spending a lot of time with dictators lately. Maybe because she's married to a director and dyslexic.

Although he DOES have BIG BROWN LIQUID FUEL POOL EYES in that pinhead of his, vice Ronery Guy's little squinty, squidgey ones.

Well, hateful as it is, he's right - we don't control the border with Mexico. And it really highlights that its our flabby political will rather than our actual armed forces that are the problem here. And he can right out and say it because that lack of gumption is a badge of pride for much of the Congress.

Y'all know what goeth before destruction, right?

I thought that was such a quick, dead-on (unfortunately) smackdown-ola, I'm wondering if he answered prepared questions.

I never saw a guy with so little chin before. WE don't (not "cannot") control the border with Mexico because we aren't even trying. He DOES control the border with Iraq, and sends insurgents and weapons across it.
