Oh, for a similar headline today!

"Brave Coalition forces liberate Tikrit, inflict heavy casualties"
"Terrorists desperate, resort to executing civilians"
"Despite the enemy's barbarity, troops press on"

"...buoyed by the overjoyous support of the American people!"

You're right.

Today Midway would be reported, "US forces lose aircraft carrier and dozens of aircraft while searching for Japanese fleet."

or

"Yorktown sunk after suffering major damage for second time. Sent into major battle after hasty repairs. Families of survivors wonder why better equipment was not available."

or

"Japanese bomb Midway. US Navy could not prevent attack. Congress calls for review of rules of engagement after Japanese trawlers are sunk by Americans prior to the battle."

"American pilots strafe helpless Japanese sailors in the Pacific"

"Devastator torpedo bombers prove useless, who is to blame?"

"Analysts warn that this battle will one day be depicted in a mediocre movie"

But am I wrong? Does anyone who owns the DVD actually watch the "my girlfriend is in an internment camp" scenes?

And I haven't even started on the use of totally inappropriate stock footage, such as how Charlton Heston somehow manages to crash an F9F jet fighter at the end of the film.
