What is it about "fried chicken" that they think the stupid public doesn't understand?

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (AP) -- A doctor and a consumer group have sued KFC in an effort to stop the chicken chain from cooking with high-fat partially hydrogenated oil.

Dr. Arthur Hoyte, a retired physician from Rockville, Maryland, and the Center for Science in the Public Interest, want a judge to order Kentucky Fried Chicken to use other types of cooking oils.

Anytime I see a quote from someone associated with any organization that has the phrase "Public Interest" in it I always check to make sure I still have my wallet.

Update: Thanks to Cullen who points out that Wunder Kraut was all over this yesterday.

I have never seen a drug that CSPI thought should be on the market, or a pesticide that they thought was safe. They are closely connected with that neo-Luddite jeremy Rifkin, too. If it were up to them, we'd all be eating vegetables we canned ourselves, using ladybugs for aphid control, and chewing willow bark (the orign of aspirin) for our aches and pains.

Luddites.

Kraut wrote a good piece on this yesterday.

Everyone's got a crusade, I guess. But don't get between me and my grill. It won't be pretty.

Pet peeve: retarded phrases such as "high-fat partially hydrogenated oil"

Makes me want to strangle that idiot reporter. Right after I strangle the doctor and his shysters.

I've got far better plans for Rifkin.

Oh, is Rifkin that guy who does the infomercials about how nothing we eat is digestible? We were just mentioning him yesterday! Looks like Kyle McLaughlin doing a bad Shatner - point to one side, point to the other, NEVER blink... HAHAHAHA!

If eatin' nothing but raw nuts and fruits your whole life was that good for you, why don't bears live to be 95?

And as I recall, CSPI was the same outfit that wanted to cooperate in a suit against Kellogg's and Nickelodeon. The story was in January so CNN's original article is no longer online, but I'm 99 and 44/100% sure of it.
