D-Day

62 years ago, this morning.

UPDATE: Mr. Summers remembers and Blackfive has a masterful round-up.

It's been in my head all day, so bear with me. Or sing it with me. Or just hum. A little.

There'll be blue birds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow, just you wait and see.

There'll be love and laughter
And peace ever after
Tomorrow, when the world is free.

The shepherd will tend his sheep,
The valley will bloom again
And Jimmy will go to sleep,
In his own little room again.

There'll be blue birds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow, just you wait and see.

"Love and laughter and peace ever after" ~ makes me cry.

I don't know how we are blessed with such courage in this country. The very thought of what these guys ~ along with those before and those after them ~ charged into sends chills up my spine.

The bravery of those men is hard to comprehend. I hope we never lose the ability to make men like them.

Too right, Mike.

Unfortunately this was one of the few references to D-Day that I have seen. Most of the news of the day is focused on 06/06/06.
