Oh, Come On!

Everyone knows it's the safest place to hit a Marine.

Marine Unfazed by Sniper Shot to Head

The young Marine had just shot a suspected insurgent and was walking back across the villa's rooftop when he keeled over from a terrific thud to the back of his head.

A sniper had fired a single, well-aimed bullet that tore through the top of Lance Cpl. Richard Caseltine's helmet, traced a path along the edge of his skull and buried burning bullet fragments in the back of his neck.

Less than a minute later, the 20-year-old from Aurora, Ind., was up on his feet - crouching, shaking and miraculously, still alive.

We're glad you're still around, LCpl. This is gonna make one helluva sea story.

As the saying goes, he'll be all right, he's a hockey player. Ooo-rah!

Pretty good story.

When I was in Iraq, we were getting ready to leave and 3/1 was relieving us. All the young lieutenants were bright eyed and bushy tailed taking the place of us old reservists. The contrast was funny.

But they were mostly seasoned veterans of Fallujah. The lieutenant that bunked below me had a long red scar straight across his back. It was from a bullet that went between him and his flak jacket.

Incredibly, right above the scar, as though it were underlined, was a tattoo that read "United States Marine Corps."

I thought that he put the tattoo there to mark the scar, but incredibly the tattoo was there first, the scar came afterwards. Several people confirmed this story.

I thought that was very considerate of the muj to underline his tattoo for him.
