Naked, Armed With Blowpipes

...and bearing monkeys on their heads,
(I know. You thought the post was about BIngley. It's not.)
...members of Colombia's last nomadic indigenous tribe emerged from the Amazonian jungle at the weekend after spending months on the run from Marxist guerrillas.

Bemused townspeople in the southern city of San Jose de Guaviare looked on as 76 hunter-gatherers of the Nukak Maku tribe walked into its central square and told of their flight from the rebels, who are considered one of the greatest threats to their existence.

"The guerrillas told us they did not want to see us ever again," said one of the few Indians to speak any Spanish.

Hard to believe the jungle's gotten that small. Is it any less a loss than Budda statues?
