Carter backs Bush's stand on seaport-operations deal

Former President Jimmy Carter downplayed criticism of White House support of an Arab-owned company's purchase of a major seaport-operations firm.

DPW running the port has really nothing to do with security. The British company currently running it is just as 'insecure'. How many radical muslims live in Great Britain? Probably about the same as the UAE.

The companies have as much to do with security as a toll booth operator has to do with the speed limit.

I fail to see what the issue is with letting DP World, a respectable worldwide port operator, operate the ports so long as certain rules are followed and we've thought out certain scenarios.

OMG, I agree with Jimmy Carter on something. I think I feel woozy.

Dave and Jeff, I mentioned this before. There is some indication that DPW may not be as innocent as all that. Of course, this also means that I'm on the side of Chuckie Schumer, which is just about as bad as agreeing with Jimmeh Url.
