Great Job Containing Inflation There, Greenspan

You musta missed Bangla-cola, where Major Dad is still in shock,

SHOCK, I TELL YOU !!
Why, you ask? Well, two days ago, the 1.75L size bottle of this much loved juice of the juniper berry was a fairly-expensive-but-still-doable $32.

Today it was...
$47.50

Do the math on that one, Alan.

No blood for gin! Halliburton! Argghh! Beefhitler! Come and see the violence inherent in the system!

Posted by: Ken Summers at February 4, 2006 07:32 PM

I can't believe they did this to me! It's a plot with THS to save my liver.

Holy Mother of God!!! Did the Bombay go up as well?

Posted by: That 1 Guy at February 4, 2006 08:03 PM

Well, the Bombay went down but it doesn't have the ping Beefeater has. The Tanqueray went down too but guess what, they were all sold out. In the vernacular of THS...Bastards!!!

I'm thinking that this is superbowl inflation. People are stocking up for the big game. I'd be curious what it sells for next week.

Posted by: Mike Rentner at February 4, 2006 08:38 PM

Mikey; I don't think gin is a big Super Bowl libation. At least not in the U.S.A. It's a plot by THS!

Posted by: major dad at February 4, 2006 09:11 PM

I'm definitely with Major Dad on that last point: "Super Bowl" and "gin" have never really been two thoughts that immediately go together in my mind, anyway. OTOH, I suppose that might be because I've just never particularly cared for gin at all.

...But here I am again mixing misery and gin...

Posted by: nobrainer at February 5, 2006 07:15 AM

You could probably make a couple of hundred thousand dollars worth in your bathtub at those prices, major. Opportunity knocks.

Posted by: Rob at February 5, 2006 11:11 AM

Glad I stockpiled my supply for the winter.

Gin martinis are the most manly of before dinner cocktails, you have to be tough to suck one of them down. Not to say Kcruella is manly, (Bingley drinks them too)it is an aquired taste. THS would never surrender her tub no matter how much profit was involved.

Posted by: major dad at February 5, 2006 11:53 PM

I dunno, I've come to like martinis. They're definitely an acquired taste, but it turns out I like the smell of gin, kind of a Christmas tree smell. (Uh oh.)

Posted by: Andrea Harris at February 6, 2006 08:39 AM

So buy some cheap vodka and crush a few juniper berries in it. Sheesh.

Posted by: mojo at February 6, 2006 11:46 AM

My sainted mother taught me how to make a proper martini and I have never gotten a complaint about them.
