Don't Forget

Westminster tonight.

-Mary Altaffer / AP

A Chihuahua named Mouse sits on an English Mastiff named Sherman while their owner checks in at the Hotel Pennsylvania on Sunday in New York. Sherman will be competing in the 130th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show which begins Monday at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The scottie was robbed

Posted by: Kcruella at February 13, 2006 09:30 PM

Who won the group? We couldn't bear to watch.

When I saw the scottie wasn't in the top five, I left the room. But Major Dad's favorite in the toy group won.

I laughed out loud when the announcer said something about the Scottie dog ultimately thinking he was better than his owner or something like that.

Is this true?!

The Pugs in this house know they're royalty...

Dermott rawked the house. I hate Pekineses (Pekini?) so any Toy Group that they lose is all right by me.

WHERE IS RON REAGAN? That woman announcer was horrible. And the "entertainment reporter" was cringe-worthy.

They always say something clever and fun like that about the Scotties. I think they try to warn people off in a warm hearted way because...it's true. They're foul, nasty, coldblooded, arrogant little buggers, besides being completely adorable. Someone who wants a dog who comes unquestioningly when called should steer well clear of my little darlin's.

And Lisa, as much as I hate to admit I missed that socialist Reagan...I did.

"They're foul, nasty, coldblooded, arrogant little buggers"

You mean they're cats?

Posted by: John at February 14, 2006 10:39 AM

Heheheheh. I love it when dog lovers excoriate cats for not being dogs. It would cheapen them both if that were true - so to paraphrase Chesterton, "Let the dog be more canine so that the cat may be more feline!"

Besides which, the cats in my world have been winsome, affectionate, easygoing, and temperate - but on their own terms. They value their own space more than most. It only looks like arrogance from the outside.

French cats, John.

I hope that little clown Dermot takes the big prize, but I think it may be the Rottweiler.

Oh, that "entertainment reporter." She gave me a shiver. I loved it when she'd put her face right in the dogs' faces... I was just hoping the Rottweiler or the Damnation would snap and snarl at her.

On the other hand, she had good hair. And Lisa and I know that good hair is important. Not, however, at the cost of a good personality.

Someone would be smart to douse her hem with something irresistable like lamb kidney tonight so the dogs will attach their teeth to the hem and RIP,RIP RIP!

Nightfly makes the point (sort of) that DeNiro made in the "Fockers" movie.

It's true in my case. I don't have the patience or intelligence to feed and house a feline. I like my domestic animals to be obsequious.

Posted by: Susanna at February 14, 2006 11:21 AM

I loved how she tried to get Dermot to shake, and he kept pulling his paw away like, "Do not touch me! You are not worthy! Begone!"

All the pugs I know would have been wiggling like worms to get down, but Dermot is one cool customer. I likes me a calm poochie. If it's a "little dog" year, I hope he wins.

Posted by: Lisa at February 14, 2006 11:40 AM

For sure our Pugs would've sneezed on her after she tried to touch the paws. They don't like having the paws touched either.

A-a-a-a-CHOOOOOOO!

Perhaps a slice of oft quoted dialogue here at Casa de Major Dad would help in visualizing life with BooBoo and Ozzie. Now, repeat after me:

"Scotties must DIE!!!"

Fly - I'm a cat lover, as THS knows, I just harbour no illusions about them. I like them for the same reason Susanna doesn't.
