Land conflicts, fluctuating crop prices and backward conditions in the countryside are threatening China's stability and its food supply, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said in unusually blunt comments published Friday.

From what I've read (admittedly not comprehensive), the Chinese economy is a facade of capitalism, and remains a socialist style ("Need more money, comrade? PRINTERS!") banking system in the background, propping up industries with fiat currency. This does tie in with that, somewhat. Interesting.

I'm thinking that the brave folks who showed up ~ some of whom got carted away in buses for 'questioning' ~ for Zhao Ziyang's memorial probably caused a few raised eyebrows and twinges of worry.
