I wish more of the elected folks in the US Govt...

would understand this concept, but I am not holding my breath.

He's right, of course. Glowingly, incandescently right. However, the immediate reaction of those who disagree will be, "How much was he paid for that column?"

Never mind that he is rebutting the President's assertions; never mind that the questioner is conveniently not bothering to explain why he disagrees. They will consider the zinger to be unarguable proof of their position, all but notarized "QED" by Conventional Wisdom, Ltd. (And CW is quite often SEVERELY "Ltd.")

The debate that's going to rage in the upcoming weeks though will be how much money is going into Texas vs. how much money is going into Louisiana and Mississippi. It is going to get ugly. Very ugly, methinks.

As to the thesis of the link, he is, of course, right. But we no longer live in a political climate where one can use the Constitution to enforce an unfavorable political stance.
