This happens periodically in Chinese history. That last time it was this bad was righht before the Taiping rebellion, I believe.

This is not limited to the Chinese, but admittedly, the Chinese application of it will have the larger repercussions on the world.

Bingley - you mean they'll invade Taiwan again for the women, don't you? All those Guo Min Dang soldiers didn't bring much in the way of extra X chromosomes with them in '49.
There are other places besides Taiwan, too - Korean women are already moving North to escape the nuthouse.
