First Place in the AL East

...one game ahead.
A-Rod, in the meantime...

A-Rod's historic HR gives Yankees lead
47th blast in victory over Orioles breaks DiMaggio’s team record

...is a God.

UPDATE: In the words of Phil Collins, "Tonight, tonight, tonight, whoa oh!"

Aaron Small took a one-hitter into the seventh inning to improve to 10-0, and the Yankees got homers from Jason Giambi and Hideki Matsui in cruising past the Orioles 8-4 on Thursday night.

Boo Hiss.

The Yankees Suck!!!!!

Yeah, I said it. I said it. What ya goin' to do 'bout it, huh, huh, huh?

Posted by: WunderKraut at September 29, 2005 11:23 AM

What Wunder said...TIMES A ZILLION. The Yankees can bite me. And it is so nice to live so close to Fenway this time of year. :-)

Oh, and A-Rod is a god? No, he's a whiny, cheating self-important schoolgirl who will NEVER live down his prissy slap of that ball out of Arroyo's hand last year.

Hehehe.

The series this weekend is going to be a zoo Dave.

"Come see the violence inherent in the system!!"

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 01:22 PM

There is something inherently not right about Alex Rodriguez breaking a record held by Joltin' Joe DiMaggio.

Posted by: Nightfly at September 29, 2005 02:01 PM

Pffft! No one's pointing a finger at A-Rod, so he came by it honestly, as opposed to some numb nuts (literally) breaking Maris's asterisk. Ask Hammering Hank what he thinks of Barry Bonds getting close to his home run title. Now that's just W.R.O.N.G..

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 02:07 PM

He's not a god, just an A-rod.

GO YANKEES!

You will be punished for your pride. Remember that you were up three games to none last year, when the FSM touched the Red Sox with his Noodly Appendage. He will do the same again this year, and the world will once again mock the choking Yankees.

Posted by: Bill McCabe at September 29, 2005 04:00 PM

when the FSM touched the Red Sox with his Noodly Appendage

Noodled because he is MERCIFUL to the WEAK, not because he's a Red Sucks fan. That's why he is so great and all powerful. As for giving the Red Sucks succor from their painful past yet a second time? I don't think so Bill, especially as I have recently cultivated a personal relationship with the FSM and his mighty minion, who blessed me ~ VIA EMAIL PERSONALLY, I might add ~ thusly, and I quote:

may you be forever touched by His Noodly Appendage.

You can't beat THAT for a mandate, Bub! Although your childish naivete is touching.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 04:15 PM

While I'm not a Yanks fan to those whinny Sox bubbas, 25 or so rings to what, one? And I'll bet it doesn't take almost a century for them to add to that total. Baseball is so much more fun when you have someone to hate.

Posted by: major dad at September 29, 2005 04:47 PM

Well, SOMEBODY in the Our-Pitchers-Are-Too-Pussy-To-Bat League East better man up and beat the White Sux, because THIS Cub Fan WILL DIE if there's a White Sox/Cardinals World Series.

Do ya hear me? DIE.

Posted by: Lisa at September 29, 2005 04:48 PM

Twenty-six to six, I believe. The Sox won the very first WS in 1903, followed by four titles in the teens.

Posted by: Nightfly at September 29, 2005 04:52 PM

Yeah, what's EIGHTYODDFRICKINYEARSORSO between friends. I mean, really.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 04:57 PM

They lost four straight game sevens in the series - '46, '67, '75, and '86. (No I didn't have to look it up. Talk about sad.) I mean, they could be the Giants (1954 and counting) or Indians (1945, I think). They could be the (giggle, snort) Rangers or Astros.

They could be the Mets, whose closer just disclosed today that he's pitched the entire year with a throwing shoulder that required surgery in January. They ought to go in and fix a few things in that melon on top of the shoulders while they're at it.

Posted by: Nightfly at September 29, 2005 05:03 PM

Yeah, but they sure couldn't be the YANKEES...

BHUUWHAhahahahahaha!

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 05:05 PM

Oh, and a beautiful sentiment, GALA! {8^P

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 05:06 PM

Yankees Suck!

Sorry, just had to re-state that.

BTW, I hate the Red Sox as well. Just not as much as I hate the Yankees.

Curse you Yankees

*shakes his fist*

S'ow many socks,
Could the Red Sox suck?
If, say, sucky Red Sox
sucked socks?

Posted by: tree hugging sister at September 29, 2005 05:14 PM

Yeah, the Red Sox do suck.

Posted by: Crusader at September 29, 2005 05:32 PM

Bah... Bring on the womp rats. :p

Posted by: peteb at September 29, 2005 06:38 PM

As a Mets fan, yes I know they suck, I find the whole A Rod worship pretty funny. The yankee fans were ready dump his tush earlier in the year. Something about he was not a true yankee....Amazing what a few hits will do, just ask the dirty rotten cheater Giambi.

I've been known to wear a Sox hat just to annoy the yankee fans. it's a fun little hobby
