Sir Rob of Apple Lane, Crabbeton

Hope you're all ready to go, good friend. Looks like the ball's moving to your court and we're thinking of you.

As ready as can be expected. I'm hoping we're far enough inland to be spared the brunt of it. The lack of power (A 15mph wind can knock my power out) will be inconvenient in this hot weather but that's manageable. No generator here. Thankful you guys look clear. It has to hit somewhere, I suppose, and it's our turn. I think we'll be OK but I'm dreading going to the store later today. Katrina is not welcome here.

Not so fast with the 'clear', unfortunately. in all truth, no one has a clue what this thing is gonna do, so best the defense is offense, in my book. Just got the donuts and beer, plus managed to top off the tank. Now it's just a question of what and when.

She's not welcome here, either.

Hi, "Tree Hugging Sister". I just wanted to say thank you for your comments on Ken Summers (secondbreakfast.net) blog about tasering in general--and my tasering specifically--back in March of this year. I just found them, and it was very comforting to know that there are those of us who see the truth and have the nerve to stand up for what is right--even though my doing so cost me dearly that night and since. Right is right, and Tasers--those who use and make them--are wrong. Thank you again! Martha Bledsoe.

Looks like you're going to get some of this, too, ths. Be safe.

Boards're up, cars stashed between the houses ~ I'm totally into the maximum preparedness thing. Keeps me busy and there's comfort in knowing you've done all you can. I am worried about neighbors though. They've run so many times and that costs money ~ they're just tired and so they're staying.

So far, so good here, ths. You?

Oh, thank goodness, Rob! We've still got power (it does burp every now and then), gusts well over hurricane strength. But snug as bugs. Check in again, Rob. Keep your head down!

I just want to say that y'all have a lot of respect from me for riding this thing out. I haven't had to do the Big Blow since Gloria in '85 and that was enough. (I mean, I'm generally a fan of big weather - T-storms and such - but havoc-wreaking is another thing.)
