Keep These Folks In Your Prayers

This can get real ugly. CAT 4, 135 mph already and "expected to strengthen."

Anyone in the path get out now if you can, and for those of you whom Uncle Sam wants to attend meetings in the path...for God's sake do all you can to be safe.

Update:

RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT DATA INDICATE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE
INCREASED TO NEAR 150 MPH...240 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. DENNIS
IS A STRONG CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. SOME
WEAKENING IS FORECAST AS DENNIS MOVES OVER CUBA...BUT IS EXPECTED
TO REMAIN A MAJOR HURRICANE AS IT EMERGES OVER THE STRAITS OF
FLORIDA AND THE SOUTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO TONIGHT.

Get out of his way.

Now.

They need to just make Florida a permanent disaster area. Those poor folks just keep getting clobbered each year.

I'll take RED for $600, Alex!

THS, I'm sure the Bingster would happily move into a motel so you can stay at his house.

Only if they had hi-speed 'net for his XBOX....

Here to hoping this thing turns well to the west. Avoiding FL all together. If the path moves just a little to the east, then WunderTown (aka Albany, GA) is going to get hammered. Which will mean long hours for me, and I am lazy.

+s to the end of the first word of my last comment. Damn fat fingers today.

This reminds me of Donna and Gloria piling into Long Island when I was a boy. The first one pushed the Great South Bay into our front yard and left half the neighborhood under two feet of water, so we moved a couple of miles inland. Didn't help. Gloria shorted the power for ten days and shoved around cars and trees across the county. Hurricanes are awesome (in the oldest sense); as much as I love big weather, I would hesitate sharing the same zip code with them by choice. Cream puffs are on me if you want to head north for a while, Ms. Sister...

I've got a buddy who's evacuating up to Boca as I type. He recently bought a house at around mile marker 15 in the Keys, so he's right in the path of the beast.

My hometown is right about on the "8:00 p.m. Tuesday" dot. Kewl.

Good news, Chris! The Emergency Managment guys're saying it's bypassing the Keys, so they'll just get beat up a bit.
