I see you only found half the story, bud.

Damn. No voice like that in this generation. He was such a hoot everytime I saw him on the telly, too.

Ah, didn't see that other fellow. Thanks Ken.

Oddly, I actually heard about Morris first and was writing it up when I heard about Ravenscroft, which had been reported earlier. I just happened to pop over here before I posted to see yours.

Heh. I loved Bass's line "I am a Irishter. And Irishters hate Englishters"

Posted by: Ken Summers at May 24, 2005 10:38 AM

Heheh, that's pretty good.

"Thurl". Nobody names their kids kick-ass names like that anymore. Now they name them after friggin' fruit.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at May 24, 2005 10:42 AM

How come they never name kids after the China Gooseberry?

No more Gopher, either. Doodles will be crushed....

No more Atom Ant, either.

"Hope he's chunkin' rocks at the windows of heaven."

omg Lisa, that's precious!

Besides the obit up over at the Hive, I offer this in Thurl's honor - spoken originally about a character he voiced>/a> for Disney:

"Don't feel sorry for Paul and Babe. I hear they're up Alaska way, and mighty happy. And those Northern Lights you see? That's just Paul and Babe havin' fun, ox-ing around, knockin' the Aurora Borealis outta the countryside."

His voice was truly 63 ax-handles high; a great talent and a good man.

Well, I didn't think they'd let him be the crossing guard, considering the way he acted LAST time.

Posted by: Lisa at May 24, 2005 02:38 PM

Yeah Lisa, that Crossing Guard gig didn't go as expected, did it?

Ha! Leave it to Daughter Number Two (who knows absolutely everything there is to know about the Haunted Mansion) to know that Thurl Ravenscroft was the bass when the ghosts sang "Green Grinning Ghosts" in the mansion.

She knew he did Tony the Tiger, but had no idea about the Grinch.

OH my GAWD, that's my second favoritest place (Pirates being the foist) in the park and I had no idea. Genius baby girl. We sa-LUTE you.
